With a 12-0 start to their season, the Ramsey High School girls’ soccer team has now earned the No. 13 national ranking, encapsulating the team’s recent success and consistent hard work over the season. So, how did the Rams arrive here, and what lies ahead for the girls’ soccer program?

While local and state papers have shed light on the Rams being a soccer powerhouse in New Jersey, this national ranking has cemented the team’s status on a much broader stage. Breaking into the top 15 nationally reflects not only wins, but hard work, consistency, and great team chemistry among the girls.
With the recent successes of the team, such as the 2024 North 1 Group 2 State Sectional 3-0 win over Sparta, and the Co-Champion County run with Ramapo, the move up to the No.13 nationally ranked team underscores that the Rams are not just the best in their region, but contenders nationwide.
Ramsey has more than just a few key players; the depth of the roster, with varsity veterans and new underclassmen, has made a strong impact on this team. Players like Lizzie Rubin, Hope Ernst, and Kendall Reid have been goal-scoring powerhouses, with the help of solid backline and strong central midfield control. Not only this, but with strong leadership from senior captains Grace Tateossian, Emmy Bender, Emma Cengarle, and junior captain Lizzie Rubin, the Rams have shown consistent composure under high-pressure situations. This success not only comes from the hard work of the girls, but the coaching dedication of head coach Drew Strohmeyer and assistant coach Matthew Miller.
So, how have the girls dealt with this recent accomplishment?
When asked how they did it, sophomore Brooke Dallara, the team’s strong central defender, said, “It’s a team full of hearts, not individuals.” Truly shows the team’s dedication not only to winning but to creating long-lasting friendships with their teammates. Despite their recent title, the girls still have a long road ahead of them, yet they are determined to keep their heads up and deal with each game one at a time.
Ramsey’s climb to No. 13 nationally is more than just a headline; it’s a reflection of sustained excellence, talented athletes, dedicated coaching, and community support. But it’s also a challenge; with recognition comes the great responsibility to meet that expectation. But with their hard work and strong leadership, I do not doubt that the team will continue to dominate in their field of play.
With that being said, good luck girls, and go Rams!
