As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, the excitement around school only grows stronger, especially for winter sports. Friday’s pep rally marked the official kickoff to Ramsey’s winter athletic season, filling the gym with energy, cheering, and anticipation. Training has ramped up quickly as each team has been putting in the work at practice to build strength, improve speed, and sharpen technique. The cold-weather teams must endure during practices test athletes’ mental toughness, but they also create a sense of teamwork and motivation making the team stronger as a whole. Even on the toughest days, the team shows up for each other, pushing through intervals, circuits, and drills together. The effort becomes something they share and brings them closer in the end.
For winter track athletes, this season feels like a fresh beginning. Even though many runners play other sports and continue training during the fall, winter track brings a new level of focus and intensity. With meets held indoors, the atmosphere becomes faster, tighter, and more competitive. Runners, jumpers, and throwers have to adjust to smaller tracks, sharper turns, and a different pace than cross country or spring track. It’s a challenge, but it’s also what makes the season exciting.
Winter track is excited for their meets. With the first meet on December 18th at RCC and the next 12/22 at Toms River, athletes are eager to see how their training will translate once they step onto the track for the first time this season. Coming off a great season track has high hopes for this year and can’t wait for another great season. Make sure to come out and support all of our winter sports teams as the season continues.
