The 2025 season will forever be the season to remember for the Ramsey Girls Varsity soccer team, and a huge part of why was their path to secure the Bergen County Tournament title. Here’s a dive into how they secured it, and what this title truly meant to the team
With a strong regular season performance, one in which was undefeated, Ramsey was entitled to the number one seed. As the number one seed, Ramsey came into the tournament with a bye week. A week filled with intense practice, mental sharpening, and a confidence boost into entering the second round. In the Rams’ first game, they faced Pascack Valley, a good competitor with a strong offense. The Rams came into this game calm and composed, and won in a shut out of 4-0. In the semifinal stage against Northern Valley Old Tappan, Ramsey continued to assert themselves as a top competitor winning the game 5-1, which set up a final showdown for the county title against Immaculate Heart Academy. After a tie in the 2024 final against Ramapo, the Rams were determined to gain the first outright Bergen County Title in history.
The stage was set for November 1, 2025, and the Rams made sure they were ready. Between a combination of hard practice, film watching days, mental preparation, and good team chemistry, the Rams were ready for IHA. When the first whistle blew, the Rams were rolling. Through a strong offensive, midfield, and defensive line, with the solid protection of the goal, the Rams were going to win this game. In the championship match, Ramsey defeated IHA 3-1 to clinch their first outright county title in program history. For everyone on the Rams roster, the 2025 final felt like closing unfinished business, and by all accounts, they didn’t leave any doubt this time. As senior captain Grace Tateossian put it, “After being co-champions last year, it was unfinished business.” Truly summed up the mindset of the Rams. The 2024 co-championship left Ramsey hungry for more. The draw in the final wasn’t fully satisfying and this fueled their preparation and focus this season. Securing the county title wasn’t just about the title, it was a signal of their hard work, commitment, and team bonds that helped the team boost their morale and confidence heading into state sectional and state tournament play. Their BCWCA victory was the first major step in what would become a clean sweep of county, sectional, and state championships
With that being said, well done girls, and go Rams!
