Cardi B’s debut album Invasion of Privacy dropped April 6, immediately taking the world by storm and securing Cardi’s position as the new rap royalty. Featuring names such as Kehlani, Chance the Rapper, and Bad Bunny, Invasion of Privacy seamlessly transitions from raw, aggressive bangers to vulnerable, heartfelt ballads, creating a refreshing, new take on the modern rap album. “Bodak Yellow,” “Get Up 10,” and “Best Life” are noticeable strengths in an already strong track list. From the sick beats to the perfectly crafted rhymes, the twenty-five year old reality-television-personality-turned-rapper steals the spotlight after years of hard work and dedication.

Invasion of Privacy has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from both the critics and the public alike. The debut album catapulted Cardi to the top of the Billboard 200, making her just the fifth female hip-hop artist in U.S. history to secure a No. 1 album. Not only is she is the first female hip-hop artist with her first three singles in the top 10 at the same time, but she has also already broken Beyonce’s record for most simultaneous Billboard US Hot 100 entries by a female. Equally as impressive, Cardi has more record titles than fellow female rapper Nicki Minaj.

Album drop aside, this is a busy time for Cardi in her personal life as well, as she and her fiance Offset of the rap group Migos are expecting their first child together. Cardi broke the news of her pregnancy during her Saturday Night Live debut on April 7th. Dressed in a tight white dress, the camera panned to her noticeable baby bump while she was performing her new single, “Be Careful.” In a video posted from backstage, Cardi can be seen weaving through a crowd of admirers and declaring, “I’m finally free!” The announcement follows months of speculation regarding her pregnancy. TMZ reports that she is due in early July. This will be the first child for Cardi, and the fourth child for Offset, who has three children (two sons and a daughter) from previous relationships. Cardi B has also revealed that the couple has picked out a name for the child, but has refused to reveal it on the grounds that it was Offset’s idea and he will be the one to reveal the name in time.

The mother-to-be is not letting anything slow her down. Her performance at Coachella has received high praise, and she could be seen twerking on stage throughout the show. With appearances on Ellen and The Tonight Show, it is clear that 2018 will continue to be an eventful year for Cardi and her growing family.
